Day 41: Seward, Alaska

We got up to a cold and rainy day, but that did not dampen our spirits and enthusiasm.  We were full for life and ready for the next adventure.  We're going into Seward.  The city of Seward was named for President Lincoln's Secretary of State, W.H. Seward, the man who engineered the Purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867.

At 8:15 we all lined up in our cars to travel to the "Alaska SeaLife Center" in downtown Seward.

What a great place to go.  We divided into 3 groups for "Behind the Scenes" tours. Each group had its own Interpreter/Guide.  We were lucky we got Kate for she did a great job of explaining each area and its function.  We learned that the Center was orginally funded by the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill settelement.  It was designed to serve as a rescue center for marine wildlife.

After the "Behind the Scenes" tour, we took some time to check out the displays.  We view the life style of seals, seal lions, puffins and many, many more.

Now we are really getting hungry.  What to do and where to go?  Always ask a local (person who lives there).  They suggested "Alaska Nettie's".  Another great Alaska meal. We split a Hambuger and Fish & Chips (both to die for).

After lunch we drove over to the shore line to see the Holland Cruise ship in port and one of the waterfalls on the side of the mountain.

Some of the caravaners went on a Dog Sled tour/ride.  Now you must remember this is still summer, which means no snow, so the Dog Sled has wheels instead of runners.
