Day 38: Homer, Alaska

We are finally in Homer, Alaska.  The place that most fisherman dream of going to someday: "Halibut fishing capital of the world".

The day starts out bright and early (6:00 am).  Several of us drive down to the Homer Spit to board the Whistler,a Charter Fishing boat.  With dreams of catching the big ones.

Whistler fishing boat

First we had to wait in line to get on to the boat.  Now isn't that normal, when you are excited about an event.

Waiting to get on the boat
The morning was chilly and a little raining.  We all came very prepared for this -- with coats and rain jackets.  This was not going to stop us from catching the big one.  The boat was well prepared with fishing rods and bait.  Now all we needed was the fish to come and visit.

Here we are fishing

And YES we did catch some pretty nice ones.  This was my first fishing trip, so I thought we had hit gold.  Little did I know that there are much larger ones out there just awaiting for us.  (another day).

We were all very happy with our catch and felt like we had a pretty good day of fishing.  And the weather turn out to be beautiful.

We all got our limit and now we are ready to return back to shore.  The biggest fish was caught by Daune. "Way to go Daune."

We are on our way back home after fun day
The last thing to do before going back to the RV park is weigh the fish.  Again we wait in line for this.

Penny chose not to go fishig with us today so she enjoyed the banks of the Kachemak Bay.

The day ended with another social.  We always find time to socialize with our fellow RVer's.
