Day 5 – Calgary, Canada

This was our day to go down town Calgary.  We all loaded onto the bus at 7:30 am and we departed approximately at 7:45.  It took us about 45 minutes to reach downtown Calgary. The bus driver dropped us off at Rope Square.  Where we all lined up for free pancakes (bacon in the middle).  These were cooked and served by the various volunteers of Calgary Stampede. They were great.

We then walked the Rope Square area and watch the parade, and bought a bag of local cherries. Which several of us enjoyed very much. And viewed the Calgary Tower.

We went to the Glenbow Museum, walk around and enjoyed several of Charlie Russell county cowboy paintings for about an hour.

The bus picked us up at 11:45 am and headed for the Calgary Stampede.  At the entrance of the Stampede there were several vendors and lots of food stands. This reminded me of going to a large State Fair.  As we walked we saw and enjoyed seeing the vendors with all their wares.  We were getting hungry so we stopped and ate lunch.  Shortly after lunch the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) was performing.  So many things to do and see at the Stampede.

We went to the Grandstand around 1:30 to watch the Rodeo. We enjoyed the Rodeo, especially the Bronc Riders.  These guys are really tough.
